Mitsubishi has been taking baby steps in the road to become one of the leading automotive manufacturers but their next step seems more like a giant leap.
The company became the centre of a buzz earlier today when they unveiled the next-generation L200 and it wowed the patrons at the Geneva Motor Show. The pickup truck is basically the Mitsubishi Triton that is built in compliance with Europe’s automotive regulations and it does look promising.
Mitsubishi describes the future L200 as a pickup truck that is designed for functionality and reliability as a work vehicle. The L200 is made to be more spacious than before and the inside layout is akin to that of a standard mid-sized sedan. As for the exterior styling, the L200 looks gentle where it is neither too muscular nor too vicious.
Like how it was with the previous models, the L200 will be driven on the 4WD system. It is powered by a new 2.4L turbocharged MIVEC inline-four diesel. The outcome is two tuning options with the first generating 152hp and 280ft-lbs of torque and the second generating 178hp and 317ft-lbs of torque.
Similarly, there will be two different transmission options and they are a new 6-speed manual and a 5-speed automatic with Sport Mode and paddle shifting. The Mitsubishi L200 will be making its debut later this year.
