The Wranglers have long been an American favourite but many are holding from driving the 4×4 due to its poor gas mileage. Well, this may soon change as the next-gen Wrangler is tipped to come with a diesel variant to ease fuel consumption.
As how it was indicated in the latest rumour surrounding the next-gen Jeep Wrangler, the vehicle is said to draw its power from a 3L Ecodiesel V6 engine while being paired to a ZF 8-speed automatic transmission. The drawback to this is that there is no manual transmission in the mix.
This is disappointing to say the least as a large handful of Wrangler fans would love it if the car comes with manual transmission. While it may make an off-road adventure more thrilling, Jeep’s reluctance to adopt the traditional gearbox is down to sales prospects.
Nevertheless, the diesel motor should appeal to the Jeep fans more as it will aid in saving more petrol dollars. While the above may still be based on rumours, it is likely to come true since the idea has constantly been teased by Jeep.
