By doing a factory reset of any handset it can help to improve the performance of a device and even clear up bugs. When you consider how many users there are with the Samsung Galaxy S4 or the Samsung Galaxy S3, refreshing the device is often a must. So if you are wondering how to do it, then here is how.
When resetting your handset there are some options to take into account. The first is whether you want to do a basic factory reset from the settings menu or a hard reset through the hardware buttons and recovery menu. The latter gives you more choices, such as wiping date, partitioning and cache. You will also have to device if you want your system reinstalled after or just the apps and your personal data.
Before you do the reset you should back-up your phone. You could use Titanium backup and back up the back up to a computer using the data cable. While this may seem over the top, you can never be too cautious.
The factory reset is the easiest choice and it will wipe all your data but it won’t affect the SIM or SD card. You can go into Settings and then choose Back up and reset and factory data reset then choose reset device and delete all. You could also use the code *2767*3855# from the dialer and it will do the same thing.
The hard reset means that you use the hardware buttons in combination. You can reset the phone then wipe the cache partition and Dalvik cache with this option. If you get stuck in a boot loop this is often the way to clear it too.
For the Samsung Galaxy S3 the combination to hold down is the Volume up, Home and Power buttons and the handset will vibrate or show you the Galaxy screen. You can then let go of the Power button and continue holding down the other two. You will get to the recovery screen and you can let the buttons go. Use the Volume keys to scroll down and then wipe data/factory reset and confirm this by tapping the Power Button. You can Scroll down and delete all user data and then press the Power button. You will be able to reboot into the recovery menu then. When the handset reboots it should be faster and smoother. Along with this you can make sure that you keep your apps up to date and delete any that you don’t use.
