The KitKat 4.4 OS has made it onto 2.5% of devices, which is an increase of 0.7% since February. However it is Android Jelly Bean that continues to dominate Android smartphones.
Google has recently launched the latest adoption statistics to reveal that KitKat 4.4 has gone over the 2% mark, in February KitKat was found on just 1.8% of handsets and is now up to 2.5%.
This is good news of course for owners of Android devices but at the same time Jelly Bean showed higher growth as its adoption level went from 60.7% to 62% at the start of March. Jelly Bean 4.2 enjoyed the most growth at 8% and 4.3 grew by 7% between the end of February and start of March.
Ice Cream Sandwich is starting to lose out as the adoption level dropped down from 16.1% to 15.2%. Gingerbread is also losing traction as it runs on just 19% of Android devices. Last month this was 21.1%.
In contrast the latest figures from Apple show that iOS7 is now on 80% of Apple devices since it came out in September.
The Samsung Galaxy S5 along with the Sony Xperia Z2 will be coming out soon and KitKat adoption will then rise rapidly in March and April.
