With only 81miles to offer, the current BMW i3 is not going to help ease the range anxiety of their drivers but the upcoming 2017 model should. There have long been talks about BMW working on increase the range of their BMW i3 and EPA have finally confirmed it now.
According to EPA, the upcoming 2018 BMW i3 will be able to offer about 114miles of range thanks to the new 94-a,p-hour battery. Of course, the upgrade will not come cheap as well as BMW has already announced that the new base price will start from $44,595, an increase of $1200 compared to the current model.
BMW seems to be focusing on coming out with new and better EV powered model. The BMW i3 and the BMW i8 will be replaced with a new model by 2022. BMW is also working on a new EV powered model called Project i20 which should be making its debut before both the BMW i3 and BMW i8 gets updated which means the i3 and i8 upgrade could be based on the i20. Let’s wait and see what happens.
