HTC One users on AT&T are the happiest folks at the moment as the highly anticipated Android 4.4 KitKat is finally out. However, the excitement got cut short after the users discovered that the update is full of bloatwares from the carrier.
Users revealed that the biggest annoyance is with the Browser Bar which will often pops up with links to various sites and services when browsing the internet. To make things worse, browsers other than the stock HTC One are also affected.
One user revealed that he tried to ignore this Browser Bar by not using the stock browser. The lad installed Google Chrome on his HTC One and to his horror, this piece of bloatware managed to take over the app as well.
After a thorough search, it appears that the Browser Bar can be switched off. Users have to go to the main settings in the phone to look for it instead of running through the browser’s settings. Simply got to Settings>Apps>All>Browser Bar>Disable.
At the moment, disabling the application is the only way out of this. There has yet to be a way to remove the Browser Bar from AT&T.
