The method in which Portal 2 got announced has got the Half Life community moved as they now believe that the right conspiracy theory can force Valve into confirming Half Life 3. This basically explains why there is a sharp rise in the number of conspiracy theories surrounding Half Life 3.
In detail, Half Life fans pointed out that if they are spot on with a theory, Valve will have no choice but to deem it as true. If this is bound to happen, the Half Life 3’s announcement will be a lot similar to how Portal 2 got announced.
