KitKat 4.4.2 has been launched for the HTC One and it brought with it many enhancements to security of the handset and cloud printing. Device owners have welcomed the update but some people have been asking if the update has fixed the issue with the camera having a purple tinge to it.
Over in Canada the HTC One along with the HTC One Mini on Bell, Telus, Virgin, Wind, Rogers and SaskTel are able to get the update soon.
Meanwhile in the US owners of the HTC One are getting the update OTA with AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon. The HTC One Sense international version is to be updated, this would fall in with the updates making its way to the US.
The HTC One X is getting the Jelly Bean 4.2.2 update and it will be the last update that the device gets, officially. An HTC executive did confirm this and said that it would arrive around the same time as the HTC One got updated to KitKat 4.4.2.
The update will bring with it many features that will depend on the network and carrier, but some features should be offered by all carriers. Owners can expect to see Sense 5.5, cloud printing, security enhancement, update to Blinkfeed, Bluetooth profiles, UI changes and the removal of flash support.
Perhaps one of the biggest issues that owners of handsets have complained about is the purple or reddish tinge to the photos of the camera. When Jelly Bean 4.3 came out owners of the handset thought that it would fix the issue, but it didn’t.
Android and Me said that one owner had asked them if KitKat 4.4.2 would fix this issue. However another user then said that the issue wasn’t to do with software and that it was a hardware issue. This meant that to fix it the camera unit would have to be replaced. This meant taking the handset to the HTC Centre.
Owners can also go into the camera app and then alter the contrast and the saturation, which does help to alleviate the issue.
