The fight between the Chevrolet Volt and the Nissan Leaf used to be a close one but it looks like the Chevrolet Volt is able to widen the gap between them and the Leaf.
One of the reasons why the Nissan Leaf seems to be falling further behind is because of the slow upgrade rate. We were expecting to see an upgrade but it looks like Nissan has no intention of giving it a major upgrade.
That and the fact that the Chevrolet Volt was given a huge upgrade gave the Volt what it needed to take the lead. The 2016 Chevrolet Volt will be fitted with an electric engine that will be pushing out about 149hp ad 273lb ft of torque. The engine will be paired with a 1-speed direct drive transmission. The Volt will be able to offer about 53miles of electric range and a combined range of 410miles.
The gap will only widen if Nissan continues to ignore the Nissan Leaf.
