There was a time when we all thought that the Chevrolet Colorado will be able to overtake the Toyota Tacoma to become the top selling truck in the mid-size segment but that was before Toyota brought out the update 2016 Toyota Tacoma.
The Toyota Tacoma have been keeping a steady lead ahead of the Chevrolet Colorado ever since but the Colorado was not going to give up just yet. One of the reasons why the Colorado was trailing behind was due to the slow production rate.
Chevrolet has been trying to increase their production rate by adding a shift and upgrading their plant and their effort clearly paid off as they manage to sell a total of 13,389 units of the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon combined topping the Toyota Tacoma past numbers but Toyota is not done yet.
To keep their lead, Toyota also added an extra shift to their Baja California facility which probably played a role in their 18,105 unit sales in April. Things are certainly heating up between GM and Toyota.
