After everything that has happen has the Takata airbag issue was brought to light, you would think that Automakers will stop fitting their vehicles with the default airbags but we might want to check again if you own the 2017 Audi R8.
According to a US Senate committee, a few news models in the market right now are still fitted with the faulty airbags from Takata. Among the models mention in the reports are the 2016 Audi TT, 2017 Audi R8, 2016 -2017 Mitsubishi i-MiEV as well as the 2016 Volkswagen CC.
That is not the end of the story either. The report added that those vehicles that have already gotten a replacement airbags and those that are waiting to get one might have to come back for another replacement in the future as the replacement unit that they are offering right now do not have the drying agent that will stop the ammonium nitrate from degrading.
It looks like we might never move away from this issue just yet.
