The arrival of the 2015 Subaru WRX STi confirms that consumers don’t have to spend so much if they wish to drive a powerful car. To prove this point, a standing quarter-mile race was organized and it involves the Japanese sports sedan and the latest Porsche Cayman.
Looking at the specs sheet, the WRX STi is powered by a 2.5L turbocharged F4 engine that is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. This allows it to generate 305hp and 290lb-fts of torque.
As for the Porsche Cayman, the vehicle is powered by a 2.7L F6 engine that is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. This generates 275hp and 213lb-ft of torque.
On papers, it is clear that the WRX STi is more powerful than the Cayman. However, it is also important to note that the latter weighs at 3059lbs, which is considerably lighter than the former. So, which car will be victorious?
We don’t wish to spoil the results for you and recommend watching the short racing clip above. Just bear in mind that the WRX STi cost $38,190 and the Cayman retails at $70,160. Trust me, you’ll be amazed.
