It is no secret that Honda is currently producing the next-gen Pilot. The large SUV looks set to debut in 2016 and it will come with many new and improved parts and features.
Today, car junkies can already catch a glimpse of the Pilot after spy shots of it got shared on the internet. Like most spy shots, the Pilot is wrapped under thick camouflage but even so, we can see that the vehicle is going to be much larger than before. After all, Honda has already revealed that the Pilot will be built on the same platform used by the Acura MDX.
Another thing to note is that the Pilot has more overhand at the back of the vehicle and a longer roofline. Together with the larger structure, we can confirm that there isn’t going to be any problem with space on the third row seats.
In terms of design, the spy shots confirmed that the Pilot will come with boxy taillights. The front portion, on the other hand, will sport a more horizontal and angular pair of headlights. In short, the front looks as if it has been taken from the latest Honda Accord.
Under the hood, the Pilot has been closely linked to running on a 3.5L V6 engine that drives on both the FWD and AWD system. There are also rumours suggesting that the V6 will be identical to the ones powering the Honda Accord. The engine will be mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission.
Once the Honda Pilot gets launched, it will be competing with the Ford Explorer, Toyota Highlander, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Nissan Pathfinder and Dodge Durango.
