It has been confirmed by Nissan that the next-generation Maxima is already in production and it will be based on the Sports Sedan Concept that was unveiled by the Japanese carmaker back at the Detroit Auto Show last year.
Now, car junkies can take a better look at the next-gen Nissan Maxima after spy shots of its test mule got shared online. When viewing the images, it appears that the Maxima design is toned down from what was seen on the Sports Sedan Concept.
This is pretty obvious, even though the Nissan Maxima is wrapped under camouflage. Among the noticeable changes from the Sports Sedan Concept is the grille. The one on the Maxima looks less enticing. Also, the Maxima appear to be slightly smaller than the Nissan Altima.
Under the hood, there is simply no telling on the sort of powertrain that will be towing the Maxima. However, rumours have been indicating it to be a 3.5L V-6 engine mated to a CVT transmission. On the other hand, there could also be a hybrid trim level which runs on the 2.5L 4-cylinder engine.
Nevertheless, the Nissan Maxima has already made something certain and that is it, being more beautiful than the Porsche Panamera. With the right powertrain, we could also see the Nissan Maxima being more powerful than the Panamera.
