In a matter of weeks from now, Ford will be launching the next-generation F-150. The full-sized pickup truck is going to come with an aluminium structure and today, we learned more information on the status of a diesel engine coming to the vehicle.
Well, it might just not happen. Ford released its test results of the upcoming F-150 when being pitted against the Chevrolet Silverado which is powered by a 5.3L V8 and the RAM 1500 EcoDiesel with its turbocharged diesel V6, and it simply shows why the F-150 does not diesel.
Ford revealed that the all-new 2.7L EcoBoost V6 engine that is tailored for the F-150 is more powerful than any diesel mill. In figures, the EcoBoost motor generates 325hp and 375ft-lbs of torque. Heck, the new engine is even more powerful than a 4-cylinder mill on the Toyota Tacoma.
Of course, details on the F-150 powered by the EcoBoost motor are still scarce at the moment. Nevertheless, we can look forward to see the fuel ratings, together with the performance stats prior to the F-150 launching day. At the moment, it simply implies that a diesel F-150 won’t be created at all.
