When it comes to Chevrolet, it has always been about the Camaro. Today, we are going to talk about something different and it is about the next-generation Chevrolet SS.
The rear-wheel drive sports sedan has been widely rumoured to arrive in 2016. The word is that the next-gen SS will be built in the US and come out as an Alpha-based model. If this is to happen, car junkies can look forward to seeing a new SS that is parallel to the Camaro.
Of course, the SS would need to come out with something special if it wishes to sell well. For starters, GM should equip the car with an LS engine instead of the LT1. The latter is simply too expensive and does not come with power. Also, the motor should be mated to a traditional 6-speed manual gearbox.
Then again, GM might simply limit the power output to 415hp, thus utilizing the LT1. The fact that the engine is aging will make it cheaper for the SS. Besides, the LT1 range of motors is already compatible with a 6-speed manual gearbox.
Now, the bigger mystery is with the weight of the car. Will the SS come out lighter than its predecessor? Looking at the automotive trend, we believe it may just happen. Obviously, a lighter weight will ensure more power and better fuel efficiency.
If all the suggested specs above are to come with the Chevrolet SS, will you consider purchasing it over the Camaro?
