The Japanese automotive market is something very different to that of the global market. This is due to the many local car manufacturers that tend to release a vehicle solely for Japan. Honda is about to do just that as they unveiled the new Honda Legend.
The sedan is going to go on sale on 22 January next year and it will be mark the fifth generation of the vehicle. For starters, the Legend will come with the Sport Hybrid SH-AWD system that combines three electric motors with a 3.5L V6 engine. This generates a max power output of 382PS. Of course, the ponies will be channelled through a 7-speed dual clutch transmission.
The three electric motors will be the special thing about the Legend. Two of the mills run the rear tyres while the third motor runs at the front. The rear motors are of 36hp each and they will provide torque and deceleration power. The electric motors will recharge its 1.3-kWh lithium-ion battery pack from braking. With all of the power mills working together, the Legend is said to return 16.8l/km.
Remember the active safety systems on the latest CR-V facelift? The feature is also going to be upgraded with Pedestrian Collision Mitigation Steering for the Honda Legend. Other safety sensors include Collision Mitigation Braking, Road Departure Mitigation, Lane Keeping Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control with Low-Speed Follow and Traffic Sign Recognition.
Furthermore, the Legend is going to be super lightweight as it is built with high-tech aluminium. This will ensure that power is maximized and fuel consumption is minimized.
