The Ford Bronco is a legendary SUV that was last released in the mid-90s. For some mysterious reasons, the American carmaker has axed the Bronco from production. It has been a long while now and there is a growing buzz on Ford, attempting to take the Bronco out of retirement soon.
An insider spoke with us that Ford is currently creating the Bronco concept that is due to arrive later this year or early next year. The large SUV is said to be based on the all-new F-150 chassis as it looks to compete with the Jeep Wrangler.
As for the engine, the Bronco will either be equipped with a5 .0 liter V8, a 3.5 liter EcoBoost V6, or a 4.5 liter turbodiesel engine. The last two motor options seem to make more sense as it reflects well on Ford’s direction to go green.
The turbodiesel mill, in particular, is surely going to be getting a lot of attention. After all, the diesel market in America is a very sluggish one but more carmakers are looking to force the trend into the country. Even Jeep is planning to give the Wrangler a diesel mill next year.
If Jeep is to enjoy a massive success with the sales of diesel-powered Wranglers next-year, then we could see a spicy competition for the Bronco. The only way for Ford to get the upperhand is if they create a hybrid powertrain for the vehicle. We won’t be surprised if Ford does that as the company has the necessary resources to do so.
However, there is still no official word on the Ford Bronco which leaves this as nothing more than just another rumour. Regardless, both the Ford Bronco and Jeep Wrangler will surely be an interesting battle if they get released next year.
