Subaru will be launching the all-new Forester and XV Crosstrek STi and they are truly great cars to own despite their clear differences in development. In other words, the Forester and XV Crosstrek STi are tailored for different purposes.
The first difference between the two is with the tyre size. Subaru engineers have equipped the new Forester with 19” wheels that are wide but compatible with the special suspensions which the vehicle is built on. The larger wheels are required since the Forester is larger and taller than the XV Crosstrek STi.
Also, the Forester STi will be getting a new CVT transmission option, like how it is offered on the next-gen Crosstrek STi. It is an 8-speed gearbox which took Subaru more than a year to develop and it is compatible with the turbo boxer engine resting under the Forester’s hood.
In detail, the mill will most likely be a 2L turbocharged motor that is taken from the 2015 Japan-only WRX S4. The latter offered 296hp and 400Nm of torque. We can look forward to something of the same calibre coming on the Forester STi.
Of course, all these information are not entirely useful if fans have no idea when the cars will be released. Well, that looks like happening very soon. Just last week, Subaru launched the new XV Crosstrek STi in Asia Pacific, including Malaysia. In simple terms, it won’t be long before the vehicles reach the US.
