Playing games is supposed to be all about fun. But is seems that some gamers take things too far sometimes and this leads them to getting carried away. In the case of GTA Online this can turn into a big issue as gamers play against each other and not AI. Gaming online can not only be a way of socially engaging with others, it can also be a place where enemies are made.
One user with the name of Greenwald08 found this out when he was threatened and harassed by another user on Reddit who goes by the name of BuckQFiatch. At the moment it is unclear as to how it happened. Grrenawald08 said that they had the username and password of their victim and they were going to close down the account. BuckQFiatch then got in touch with Sony and changed the account password.
This is just one example of what has been termed e-thugging, which is also known as cyber bullying. While not everyone is a hacker online gamers don’t really know who the other person is.
Gamers should refrain from getting too involved when playing online as emotions can get out of hand. If threats and bullying continue then Rockstar will have to do something about it.
GTA 5 and GTA Online has been one of the biggest games to come out of 2013 thanks to a storyline that is rich and online play. GTA has always had controversy surrounding it but many gamers know that it is after all only a game.
