2014 Honda Accord EX Review: Finally, Something Exciting!

The Honda Accord EX was launched earlier this year and today, we found ourselves sitting behind the wheel of the vehicle. Unlike other Accords before this, the latest EX comes with some new styling and of course, improvements to its performance.

The Accord EX still drives on the FWD system as it draws its powers from a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine with direct injection, mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. This generates 185hp and 181lb-ft of torque.

Design-wise, the Accord EX comes with LED running lights and fog lamps that slide inwards together with the nose of the vehicle. Everything is also more proportioned as the Accord EX sports high and low bodyline strakes and an upswept rear.

Inside the vehicle, Honda equipped the Accord with a larger screen embedded on the dashboard. The screen replaces some of the old manual switches but despite the many features it offers, the gadget does not offer navigation.

The Accord EX is truly different from all the previous Accords, which are famous for its user-friendliness that made it boring for thrill seekers. The EX is basically built for the latter.

In detail, the Honda EX offers exceptional handling. It can swift past bends and corners with ease thanks to MacPherson strut front and multi-link rear independent suspensions, along with the 17” 10-spoke alloy rims that maintain grip at all times.

With such an impressive performance, we don’t expect the Accord EX to return great fuel economy. However, we were surprised as the sedan managed a fuel consumption range of 24-34mpg.
