Google’s Nexus 5 is finally out after months of speculating and numerous leaks. Why don’t we compare it to other manufacturers’ flagship smartphones? Yes! Let’s do that. Let’s take HTC’s HTC One and Samsung’s Samsung Galaxy S4. Of course we will take the Galaxy S4 instead the Note 3, it will be so unfair if we take the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 to compare with the Nexus 5.
Let’s look at the most obvious thing first, the screen. Among these three smartphones, the HTC One has the most pixel per inch density with 469ppi on its 4.7 inches screen. The Samsung Galaxy S4 sports a 5 inches Super AMOLED display at 441p, which is the lowest of the three and the Nexus 5 has only a few pixels more than the Galaxy S4 with its 4.95 inches IPS display.
Moving on to the cameras on these smartphones. The Samsung Galaxy S4 is equipped with a 13MP camera, which is the highest of these three smartphones. The Nexus 5 has the 8MP camera, which is the same as its predecessor, the Nexus 4 but the Nexus 5 camera features optical image stabilization. On the other hand, the 4MP camera on the HTC One is not lagging behind since the lack of megapixels had been made up by the Ultrapixel technology the smartphone packs. The Ultrapixel technology enables the HTC One to process high quality images despite not having a high megapixel on its camera and the Zoe Camera feature is just awesome.
Next up is the processors. All three smartphones has 2GB of RAM. But the HTC One has a 1.7GHz quad core Snapdragon 600 processor and the Samsung Galaxy S4 also has the Snapdragon 600 processor but clocked at 1.9GH. On the other hand, the Nexus 5 is powered by Qualcomm’s newer quad core Snapdragon 800 processor clocked at 2.26GHz.
On battery life, the Nexus 5’s 2300mAh battery pack and Samsung Galaxy S4’s 2600mAh battery pack offers you 17 hours while the HTC One’s 2300mAh battery offers 18 hours of talk time. Both of the Nexus 5 and HTC One don’t support storage expansion. The Nexus 5 is available in 16GB and 32GB internal storage capacity while the HTC One gives you the option of 32GB and 64GB internal memory. The Samsung Galaxy S4 on the other hand has a microSD card slot for extra storage which supports up to 64GB SD card while its internal memory is offered in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB.
Choosing the best between these three smartphone will mount to personal needs and expectations. Each smartphone has its own capabilities. Those who likes great camera might go for the HTC One, those who plays a lot of games would definitely go for Nexus 5. As in for those who needs a lot of storage would prefer the Samsung Galaxy S4.
