Monster-Sized Samsung Galaxy S3 + Android Jellybean = Nexus 7… Now Shipping?

According to DroidLife (DL) the Nexus 7 tablet from Google is already on the way to Google I/O from factories and it will be hitting stores next month. The device will be shown off to developers and the press at Google I/O 2012 which will be held June 27th to 29th at the Moscone Center in San Francisco and it is thought that the tablet will be available for purchase in July, with the price tag of $199.

Google Nexus 7 rumors

Google decided to leave out a rear camera to help keep the costs down. However the tablet will come with a camera on the front to allow for video conferencing. It has been rumored that this will be 720p. The tablet connects by Wi-Fi only and it comes with Chrome pre-installed for the Android browser. The big question is now that we know the device is getting closer to its launch, are you getting excited? One thing in its favor is the cost of course, at $199 it is a contender for the lower range of the Apple iPad 2, the Kindle Fire and the PlayBook from Blackberry, along with others.

It is thought that the Google Nexus tablet will have a 7 inch screen and it will be run by the Tegra 3 quad core processor along with having Android 4.1 installed. Google will be highlighting the device at the I/O along with Google Glass, Project Majel and Jellybean.

Now if you’ve been following the Nexus 7 rumors then you will have seen the supposed leak pictures of the tablet from PhoneArena. It basically looks like a clone of the Samsung Galaxy S3 but with a larger display and of course, Android 4.1 Jellybean. We’re not sure why this is the case given that rumors suggest ASUS is building it and not Samsung. Nevertheless, it will be an interesting addition to the market given that PhoneArena states it even has an earpiece (you can supposedly make calls on it). Anyone else thinking ‘Samsung Galaxy Note 2’?
