T-Mobile are focusing on getting their LTE network running and are not going ahead with any upgrades to their infrastructure to support 48Mbps HSPA+. Sprint are also in the race to offer wider LTE service sometime this summer which means that T-Mobile are now in fourth place among the big carriers in their strive towards launching the network. But the question on everyone’s lips is where they are at the moment and when can we expect to see LTE from T-Mobile up and running?
Will T-Mobile be ready with LTE for iPhone 5 2012 debut?
PocketNow reports that they posted an update on their blog this morning which provides the answer to the question above. According to T-Mobile there will be more coverage on the 3G 1900MHz which takes it from the 1700MHz which the company offer at the moment. This also means that those with the carrier may have access to even more handsets, which may even include the iPhone which until now had T-Mobile users stuck on EDGE speeds. At the moment it is all still in testing phase but they do expect to launch 1900MHz before the end of the year is out and in many markets, making devices like the iPhone 4S now capable of 3G on T-Mobile.
The first of the trials are expected to take part this summer and fingers crossed, they expect to be able to launch their LTE service to the public in 2013. With the iPhone 5 rumored to come with 4G LTE capability, we are wondering if T-Mobile is up to the tight deadline. If not, we could see T-Mobile users have to wait until the iPhone 6 before the pink carrier can be taken as a suitable carrier for the iPhone.
