Many individuals who pre-ordered the Samsung Galaxy S3 were pleased to find out that they could have 50GB of online storage with Dropbox. However according to AndroidAuthority, those who ordered their handset on AT&T and Verizon in the US are in for a shock if they were looking to get their hands on free online storage as the two major carriers chose to opt out of the promotion.
No 50GB free Dropbox storage for AT&T & Verizon Samsung Galaxy S3
The news came about after a customer who had purchased the handset went to the Dropbox website to register their Galaxy S3 and came across problems. A moderator on the forum explained that the carriers had chosen to opt out of the deal for 2 years of free cloud storage. This was not mentioned when the phone was unveiled last month.
There are two possible reasons why they would choose not to offer free online storage. Perhaps they do not want millions syncing their data at the same time as it could affect their network or perhaps they plan on releasing their own cloud storage. So if you are a customer of AT&T or Verizon in the US, you seem to have got the short end of the stick versus your Sprint and T-Mobile friends.
Was the 50GB free online storage a big selling point for you? Or does the top-notch hardware on the Samsung Galaxy S3 suffice? Sound off in the comments below.
