Verizon 4G LTE coverage map expands June 21

While these are the only official ones on the list for the June 21st switches, there have been a lot of emails sent in from readers stating that more markets will actually go live on this date. There have been rumors that parts of Florida will get 4G LTE at this time, along with North Carolina and South Carolina. Whether this is true remains to be seen and everyone is now waiting in anticipation to find out just how far Big Red will spread out on June 21st.

For those who don’t know, Verizon has the largest 4G LTE network in the US. While another three carriers have 4G LTE, there is only Verizon who provide 100 percent 4G LTE, which is considered to be the gold standard in wireless technology. Verizon claim to have more than 6 times the coverage of AT&T and currently 4G LTE is available in 258 cities in the US and supplies fast data to more than 200 million US residents. On June 21st this will of course change and even more cell phone users will enjoy the speeds provided on 4G LTE.

On a side note, the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S3 will be LTE capable on all three US carriers. While Verizon may boast the widest coverage, Sprint will offer unlimited 4G LTE data plans. Given that Verizon plans on only releasing 4G LTE smartphones in the future, you can bet that Verizon won’t quit until their 4G LTE coverage blankets the entire US.
