2012 MacBook Pro Specs Leaked, A Big Step Up

Details have surfaced about the upcoming 2012 MacBook Pro, although they cannot be confirmed just yet. A package label was sent to 9to5mac yesterday which is of the same in nature as the leaked label of the 13 inch MacBook Pro from earlier.

MacBook Pro 2012 specs leaked (rumored)

The label does seem to confirm the reports from 9to5mac revealed in May. That was that the device would have a higher resolution display and be much thinner, 0.74 inch and lighter at 4.7 pounds and comes with USB 3.0. The MacBook Pro is of course sold as a professional notebook and as such the workings of the device are crucial. The unconfirmed label states that the device comes with 16GB of 1600MHz DD3 RAM and a whopping 750GB of hard drive space which has been upgraded to SSD. If the label is true then the notebook will have an AMD Radeon HD 777oM graphics processor with the AMD chip reported as having 3GB of GDDR5 memory. A switchable graphics chip, the Intel HD Graphics 4000 is also said to be included.

The display is listed as being 2560×1600 and this is actually more pixels that what the 27-inch display on the iMac which is 2560×1440. There is a Thunderbolt port, Bluetooth 4.0, FireWire, SDXC card slot, Ethernet port and a FaceTime camera in HD.

Whether the label is the real deal or a hoax remains to be seen. However points to note include the fact that the display is listed at 16:10 and not 16:9. Apple does seem to be heading towards 16:9 with their devices and the HDD is questionable. There have also been numerous different specs rumored, such as Nvidia, the lack of Ethernet and Firewire and many more small things. It has also been suggested that the revamped notebook will set you back $3,000.
