Samsung Galaxy S3 Leapfrogs iPhone 5 To US, To Make Its Mark Before Apple Gets Out Of The Gates

Samsung have gotten a head start over Apple with the official announcement of the Samsung Galaxy S3 for US stores on June 20. They aim to outsell their previous version of the phone, the Galaxy S2 which helped to put them ahead of Apple as the largest maker of smartphones in the world.

Samsung Galaxy S3 to hit US stores before iPhone 5

The Samsung Galaxy S3 packs unique features like being able to keep a track of its owner and tell when they are looking at the screen. If eyes are averted from the screen, it knows to dim to save battery power. The phone has hit more than 28 shops throughout Britain, Germany and Middle East along with European countries already. Samsung are hoping to make the gap even wider before Apple releases their new iPhone 5. Customers queued in Berlin outside of the BASE mobile shop to be the first to get their hands on the much anticipated handset. This is something that was reserved in the past for releases of new iPhones.

The Samsung Galaxy S3 has a large 4.8 inch Super AMOLED HD screen which is one of the largest screens on any smartphone sans the phablet Galaxy Note. Carriers around the world have started to promote the Galaxy S3 leading to the phone being one of the most pre-ordered Android handsets of 2012. Samsung hope that the phone will top the 20 million Galaxy S2 sales. It has also gone up for pre-order at Verizon yesterday.

The Samsung Galaxy S3 is said to be a challenger to the new iPhone 5 and the real test will be when the new model is finally revealed. The race is on for smartphones and there is also a battle playing out in court as Apple has accused Samsung of stealing their technology. Samsung counter claim that Apple have infringed on their patents instead.

There has been rumors that the new iPhone 5 will have a larger screen and it is thought that the phone may be revealed in October, this would be the same time last year when the iPhone 4S was revealed.
