According to the folks over at CNET, owners of the Motorola DROID RAZR and MAXX on Verizon thought they might get the update to Android 4.0 ICS around May of this year, but May came and went and no update. Verizon have been pushing out the update for the Xoom but as yet there has been no mention of the update for the Razr.
Verizon Motorola DROID RAZR Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update
When Verizon was asked for a status update about the much anticipated Android 4.0 update they said that updates for the Razr should start appearing over the air from June 12th. The delay was said to have been due to the fact that the servers which offer the updates needed updating themselves.
If the report is true then owners of the Motorola DROID RAZR will not have too much longer to wait. For now they can check out the leaked build of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich for the Razr, although it does not come with all the functions. Droid-Life posted screen shots which were supposedly taken by a reader who said they had managed to get their hands on a leaked build which came with the exact same file size as the one listed on the leaked schedule from Verizon. This of course sparked the rumor of the upgrade to the Razr starting from 21st May which was then delayed.
On a side note, the Motorola DROID RAZR is expected to soon be replaced by a successor, the Motorola DROID RAZR HD a.k.a Verizon DROID Fighter. If rumors serve true then we will see a 4.6-inch HD display and 13-megapixel camera as a few of the upgrades.
