As we move into Q2 2012, the next big Apple iOS product expected to make its debut will be the iPhone 5. We got a taste of LTE and big performance gains with the New iPad ‘3’, and now the same is expected of the iPhone 5. However, word on the street is that Apple may unveil iOS 6 simultaneously as well, and with it bring some much needed features.
iPhone 5 & iOS 6: What features do you want to see?
Quicker radio toggles: The iPhone 5 could do with quicker access to common radio toggles like WiFi, Bluetooth, 3G, GPS & more. Given that Apple already integrated the Notification Center in iOS 5, it would be handy to add the toggles inside.
Notification sync with iCloud: The ability to have notifications stay in sync, across devices.
Live icons: Currently, the calendar icon is the only icon that reflects information without having to ‘open’ it. This feature could certainly be used for other similar apps like the Weather icon and more.
Hide native apps: Given that Apple will unlikely ever change their grid pattern icon layout, the ability to hide native apps (e.g. Stocks, Weather) which you will never use will certainly make it easier to find the apps you want to use.
More APIs: Even though it has been almost a year since Apple announced Siri and the Notifications Center, they have yet to create APIs for either. The former will allow for other apps to utilize the powerful features of Siri while the latter will let developers begin creating “widgets” in the Notification Center.
Are there are any other features you would like to see Apple integrate into the iPhone 5 & iOS 6? Sound off in the comments below.
