The hoaxes surrounding Fallout 4 have been building up. There was the Survivor2299 hoax which is hard to beat but which has aged now. If and when Bethesda finally reveal Fallout 4 it could be that no one will believe the game has really arrived. Now we have heard about another hoax that has cropped up over the weekend but Bethesda has been quick to bust it.
Last week some gamers got an email that was said to have to been sent from Bethesda. The email said that Bethesda would be making an announcement on 12.01.2014. The email was a good copy as it arrived in gamer’s inboxes with the address [email protected] and it had an image with a font that was similar to that of Fallout, but Bethesda had not sent the email.
Bethesda quickly laid to the hoax to rest when they said “This is another fan hoax,” tweeted a Bethesda representative . “We are not announcing games from our merchandise store.” Pete Hines, Bethesda’s vice president of PR and marketing, echoed the statement from his personal Twitter account . “We don’t announce or tease our games thru emails from our store,” he said.
Fans waiting for the arrival of Fallout 4 may want to bear in mind in future that Bethesda are not doing covert marketing for Fallout 4. Last month we heard we came across what is perhaps one of the most tangible pieces of evidence that the game exists but gamers should be sceptic.
