It is thought that Sony may not have owners of the Xperia devices waiting too long to get their hands on the update to KitKat 4.4. These include handsets such as the Z series, SP and V. The Polish network PLAY has set the firmware update to be in early February and here are three reasons to back this up.
The camera apps have seen an update; these include the exclusive apps from the Sony Xperia Z1 Timeshift Burst, Social Live and Info-Eye. The update to version 1.0.1.0 brings with it many fixes for bugs. The Social Live app comes with a new UI, navigation bar that is transparent and better layout for the text. Sonys app updates could show that they are getting the handsets ready for the experience that comes with KitKat 4.4.
The Polish carrier PLAY has updated their list and this says that the Sony Xperia Z will get KitKat 4.4.2 towards the end of February and early March, this is set to happen before the update to the LG G2. The update will coincide with the update to the Album app.
Over at Vodafone in Australia they have been testing Jelly Bean 4.3 for the Xperia XP and TX. Sony did give confirmation that the update would happen for the Xperia SP, T and V at the end of January or early February. When this update has been sent out Sony will then turn their attention to KitKat 4.4.2 for the Sony Xperia Z.
