Ever since Smart became mainstream on the global automotive market, many rumours have been linking the firm to produce an SUV. Well, this may just happen soon after witnessing a sharp incline in the popularity of the SUV segment.
This was teased by Dr. Dieter Zetsche when he said that the expansion with the Smart family will be bound to the SUV segment. Yes, Dr. Dieter might be one of the big bosses in Mercedes but it is also worth noting that Mercedes owns Smart.
As such, it is best not to take Dr. Dieter’s words lightly. The Smart SUV is expected to be based on the ForTwo and it will be a perfect vehicle for a city dweller. If everything is in motion right now, then the vehicle may just make its debut next year.
