Details have surfaced about the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S5, with half of what we have heard being in-line with what other sources have had to say and the other half being very interesting. Of course there is nothing to suggest that this is gospel and anyone waiting for the arrival of the Samsung Galaxy S5 should take this with a pinch of salt.
A source said that when the Samsung Galaxy S5 arrives it will have a display of 2K QHD. This is a rumour that has gone around before but it could be true as Sony and LG have been rumoured to be releasing devices with displays of 1440 x 2560. We also heard that the handset will have rapid charging and a 2900 mAh battery.
On the more exotic side a source said that the camera would be 20MP as Samsung want to catch up with Sony and the Xperia Z1 and Z2. All the leaks we have heard in the past have said the camera would be 16MP with ISOCELL tech and OIS. Back to the rumours of the 20MP camera and it was said that it would also be able to capture video at 4K while taking photos at the same time. As 4k video capture has been seen on the Samsung Galaxy Note 3, this doesn’t stretch the imagination too far.
Perhaps more unlikely will be the rumour about the iris scanner on the Samsung Galaxy S5. This would be used to unlock the handset in much the same way as Apple chose to do with the fingerprint scanner. While this tech is out there, who knows whether Samsung will include it.
Finally there was a rumour going around that once again the Samsung Galaxy S5 will be released in a design of plastic, despite the fact that this has been the number one complaint from fans. With each new release of the Galaxy S series fans hope to see aluminium in the design. However it is rumoured that the Samsung Galaxy S5 will arrive with a different design language, whether this means a faux leather back is unclear.
