It is hard to understand the need for smartphones to be locked by a specific carrier. Such a feature will be a huge hassle if the users wish to switch telcos with their device.
This nightmare is over for both the Samsung Galaxy S3 and S4 users as an unlock code has been leaked for these devices. Applying these codes will enable the users to switch SIM cards from any carriers at any time.
If you wish to unlock your Galaxy S3 or S4, open up the dialler app and key in *#197328640#. Proceed to the main menu > [1] UMTS > [1] Debug Screen > [8] Phone Control > [6] Network Lock > Options [3] Perso SHA256 OFF. Wait for 30 seconds or a minute before going back to your main menu and choosing “back”. You will now see a “Network Lock” message. Choose [4] NW Lock NV Data INITIALLIZ.
If done correctly, there will be a message that read: “Asterisk Pound One Nine Seven Three Two Eight Six Four Zero Pound”. Remember that some people call the asterisk “star”, and the pound button “hash”.
The Galaxy S3 or S4 will then be unlocked and it can be used with any SIM cards in the world. Of course, the carrier has to be on the same wavelength with the device or there will be some compatibility issues.
