Samsung: Galaxy S3 Android 4.4 KitKat Update Now Confirmed?

Owners of the Samsung Galaxy S3 have confirmation that they will get the update to KitKat 4.4 within the weeks to come.

The confirmation was said to have come via Facebook from Samsung Mobile Arabia and the IBT said that they had replied to an owner of the device on Twitter saying “Hello Ashif, the Kitkat update will be available by the end of this month. Thanks for your patience.”

So it does look as though this is confirmed, however since then the comments have been taken down. This may mean that the confirmation was given out wittingly and that different countries may have their own roll out dates. This is one among the many rumours that have been going around about the KitKat 4.4 update making its way to owners of the handset. Earlier on in the month Just About Phones said that they had seen leaked documentation from Samsung in India that told us the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy Grand would be getting updated to KitKat. A leak in Novembers suggested that the updates could arrive in April or May.

The reports and seemingly confirmation from Samsung Mobile Arabia are hard to resolve. But they do seem to support the quote that was given to Android Geeks by what was said to be an engineer from Samsung. The site said in January that KitKat would make its way out in late Q1 not long after the KitKat 4.4 rollout for the Samsung Galaxy S4.
