GSM Arena came across leaked documents which gives a comparison between the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 from 2013 and the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 with a new tablet that has the name of the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo. It has been said that the device could be the rumoured Galaxy Note 3 Lite.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo has the Exynos hexa-core CPU, which is said to be the first of its type in the smartphone industry. The phablet will be a blend of the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and the Note 3. Documents have revealed the device to be arriving with the 1.7GHz dual core hexa-core processor along with a 1.3GHz quad core processor. This would be like the Samsung Exynos 5 Octa 5410 processor. Experts have said that the processor will be able to rely on the dual core for mundane tasks and the quad core will be used for heavier duty tasks. At the moment we have no idea if the processor is to be a true Hexa-core chip, which would be able to run all of the cores as the same time.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo would have the hardware of the Samsung Galaxy Note 2, including the 720p 5.5 inch Super AMOLED display, 16GB of storage, 2GB of RAM, a battery of 3100mAh and the 8 megapixel camera. It would take the software of the Samsung Galaxy S3 including Jelly Bean 4.3, Air View, Air Gesture, Air Command, Smart Scroll, Smart Pause, Adapt Display and Multi-Window.
This is not the first time that we have seen Samsung indicate a slightly altered version of a device to one already on the market. The Samsung Galaxy Pocket Neo and Samsung Galaxy Y Neo have older siblings with specs that have been slightly changed. There has also been a rumour about a handset with the name of the Samsung Galaxy Grand Neo. This handset was referred to as the Samsung Galaxy Grand Lite until GSM Arena came upon leaked documents about the handset. While the Samsung Galaxy Grand Neo has not been confirmed it is thought that it could be released during February with a rumoured price tag of around $492 or 299 Euros.
There has been speculation that the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo could arrive at the Mobile World Congress and be out in February or March. We have heard reports about the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo already being in mass production along with it having a User Agent Profile. This said that the handset could have a display of 720p and it may run on Jelly Bean 4.3. Another rumour pointed to the device coming in a green colour.
It is thought that the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo will cost less than the Samsung Galaxy Note 3. The latter has a price tag of $300 when taken with a two year contract. The Samsung Galaxy Mega costs $150 with a two year contract.
This leads us to believe that the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo could fall somewhere in-between the two handsets for pricing. The phablet would perhaps be aimed at those customers who like the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 but who don’t want to pay out such a high price as the device commands.
