However, going through the update will have some cons if you are a fan of rooting. The KitKat will be a Verizon-exclusive and there won’t be any custom ROM coming anytime soon for you to root. Things are expected to take a longer while as Verizon has a locked bootloader which can give modders some headaches.
As such, it is best to stay away from the KitKat update if you wish to retain your rooted OS. Those who have updated automatically, there is no way out of it until a rooting mechanism is created of course.
On the other hand, there is one way out of this mess. It is recently discovered by an XDA developer. The lad revealed that the Note 3 has to be rooted with Kingo and is running on the stock 4.3 MJE. If so, then obtain N900VVRUCNC2 OTA with survival mode checked in the SuperSU app. It will protect the rooting on the OS.
Many Note 3 users on Verizon have revealed this method to work. While it is still scrutinized by many, you can try it at your own risk.
