It has already been confirmed that a sequel to Resident Evil 6 is in development and it is tentatively known as Resident Evil 7. This upcoming title deserves a lot of anticipation from the fans due to the high possibility of it coming with tons of horror to offer.
This was suggested by a leak screenshot of the game in development which saw the future sequel returning to Racoon City. The area is the same location that was used in the first Resident Evil trilogy and back then, everything revolves around horror.
As such, there is a huge chance for Resident Evil 7 to be built on the horror genre. If so, then the sequel will come to the relief of the many fans that have been frustrated by the fast-paced action gameplay which became the new norm back in Resident Evil 4.
Of course, it is still too early to confirm anything and Capcom has yet to give any feedback on this. Until Capcom let in more light on the matter, it is best for the fans to take the above with a grain of salt.
