Report: Apple Aware Of iPhone 5S Flaws

Apple is said to be at work on an update to iOS that will remedy the issues that iPhone 5S owners have been having with the Touch ID fingerprint scanner. Some owners have complained that the device seems to forget their fingerprint after some time.

Apple flouted the Touch ID Sensor as one of the most notable features of the Apple iPhone 5S and it does set the device apart from other iPhones, along with the Apple iPhone 5C, which Apple introduced at a lower price. For the most part the Touch ID fingerprint sensor has received good reviews for being accurate and fast, however problems then started to creep in after some months.

It seems that the sensor forgets the fingerprint of some users and they then have to go through the set up process again. This lasts for a few months before the sensor then forgetting again and the routine having to be carried back out. It has been said that the issue doesn’t have anything to do with skin texture, moisture or dirt on the sensor surface. Apple used Sapphire glass on the sensor and so it’s not likely that damage is the issue.

Over in the forums of Apple there are threads with people saying the same thing. Apple hasn’t commented on the issue but a source close to them said that they are sending out an update to the software soon.

Apple is also said to be getting ready to launch iOS 7.1 and this could come with Touch ID fix. iOS 7.1 may be released next week along with the CarPlay experience for iPhone powered in vehicle entertainment and navigation comes out, which was announced recently.
