Fans of the gaming franchise have been led to believe that the clip was the real thing. It demonstrated PlanetSide 2’s gameplay from the PS4. In that same footage, a screen shot of the PSN store was included as it revealed the game’s release date on 26 May this month.
Everything in the video is actually misleading. The release date cited appears to be nothing more than a placeholder. This means that the listing on PSN store is waiting for confirmation from PlanetSide 2’s game developer.
As for the gameplay, the absence of HUD simply proved that the clip is taken from the PC version of the game. After all, the feature can be removed if played on the PC.
Despite the disappointment, PlanetSide 2 will definitely make its debut on the PS4 this year and it will be similar to that on the PC.
