Back in the Frankfurt Motor Show last year, Opel became the centre of attraction after it unveiled the Monza Concept that runs on an EV motor, paired to a 1.0 liter 3 cylinder turbocharged engine CNG range extender.
Unfortunately, the concept won’t be stepping into production anytime soon but the name Monza will. An industry insider from Germany revealed to us that Opel is developing a large SUV and it will be called the Monza.
The vehicle in production is believed to be coming in 2017 and will be priced from $35,906. The insider added that the Monza will be developed at Opel’s Russelsheim plant.
Of course, the old Monza Concept is not dead and gone. The upcoming Monza SUV will be taking some features from it and the list includes the headlights and chrome grille. The engine, on the other hand, will be sourced from Insignia.
