Apple proudly announced that the upcoming Apple Map update will allow the application to offer a GPS route that ensures undisrupted connectivity. Apple believes that it is important for iPhone and iPad users to stay connected when driving.
Well, for the car junkies worldwide, this is a big insult. This is because the feature will simply promote more distractions and it will make driving a car less engaging than ever. After all, who in the right mind would want to settle for a longer route just to sustain connectivity?
Obviously, there will be people that believe mobile connectivity is more important than driving or getting to a destination quickly. If so, then it defeats the purpose of owning a vehicle.
If Apple is really concern about the automotive industry, then they should have considered offering offline maps. Google is already working on the latter and this is why Apple Map will always be second best map application.
