Last year, Mitsubishi shared with the world the XR PHEV concept and now, they have returned with a newer XR PHEV study. Known as the Mitsubishi XR PHEV 2, the car was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show and it is the final render before development begins.
The XR PHEV 2 will run on a hybrid powertrain which consists of a 12kWh battery that offers a total output of 160hp. Unfortunately, Mitsubishi has yet to decide on the engine that will best pair with the electric motor.
As for the design, the grille and hood now comes with an opening so that air can flow in and cool the plug-in hybrid system. The other highlight to the design is with the rear glass panel which is made larger so that drivers can check out their rear easier.
Then again, one might argue that the shape of the front portion looks a lot like the SUVs from Lexus. Of course, things are better with the XR PHEV 2 as it is more toned down with its design.
