It is no secret that Bioware is currently developing Mass Effect 4 and the fans are never short of excitement when it comes to this highly anticipated game. However, it is important to note that Mass Effect 4 will have a new storyline and won’t relate to the first trilogy.
In fact, it won’t be called Mass Effect 4 at all. Following the announcement on Mass Effect 4’s development last year, there has been a huge buzz among the fans on save game compatibility. However, all of that soon quiet down after the lead director, Mac Walters, confirmed that Commander Shepard and everything affiliated to him have been eliminated from the franchise and won’t be part of future Mass Effect games.
Walters revealed that Mass Effect 4 will start a fresh story surrounding a brand new protagonist. A handful of the fans are disappointed with this as they felt that Shepard deserved a better ending than how it was in Mass Effect 3. With the protagonist they have played and loved being axed by the developer, Mass Effect won’t be the same again.
Walters took the opportunity to defend Shepard’s ending in Mass Effect 3. The lead director felt that it was the best possible ending for Shepard and it will only hurt the series if the protagonist were to feature in Mass Effect 4.
For the time being, Mass Effect 4 is probably the biggest mystery in the gaming industry. There is no clue at all on what is coming to this future gaming title. Nevertheless, the game developer is definitely hard at work and as we near the game’s release, there will certainly be more spill on Mass Effect 4.
