2014 Mazda 3 Review: A Scissors To Your Wallet

Earlier this year, Mazda released the all-new Mazda 3. Despite so much hype built towards the vehicle’s release, the Mazda 3’s sales have never managed to skyrocket. Perhaps, this is due to the price tag that comes with the compact sedan which is simply to huge.

In short, the Mazda 3 cost slightly lesser than a D-segment vehicle like the Honda Accord. Thus, it is the most expensive compact sedan around at the moment.

Mazda explained that the price is justified as the car is equipped with the company’s SkyActiv engine. This new tech enhances the handling of the vehicle while also creating a new record in petrol consumption. There is no denying this fact as the Mazda 3 offers great balance when taking on the mountainous roads while also consuming fuel efficiently.

The bad news, however, is with comfort inside the Mazda 3. While the interior is made with high quality materials, the car is so poorly insulated that drivers can get disturbed by the loud wind and tyre noises, even when cruising at a gentle speed of 60km/h.

Also, the SkyActiv technology is so obsessed with keeping fuel consumption at its minimum that it made the car feel underpowered. Drivers will have to floor into the high-rev zone, just to pull out the shy ponies hiding inside the car.

The bottom line is that the Mazda 3 is truly a remarkable vehicle but it could have been better for its price. As such, we don’t feel that the compact sedan is worth the purchase as consumers can get better vehicles under the budget.
