Lenovo Laptop Recall Underway – List Of Affected Models

The ThinkPad batteries of Lenovo are been recalled due to an overheating hazard that could cause a fire.

Lenovo said that they have recalled about 155,000 batteries up to now.

The US Consumer Product Safety Commission said that two cases of batteries that have overheated and caused damage have been reported. Due to this finding Lenovo have now started a recall procedure for the batteries.

The batteries in question belong to ThinkPad models that have shipped out between October 2010 and April 2011. The batteries were also sold on their own as replacements.

Here are the ThinkPad models that have been affected.

– ThinkPad W510
– ThinkPad T410, T420, T510 series
– ThinkPad X100E, X120E, X200, X201 and X201s Series
– ThinkPad Edge 11, Edge 13, and Edge 14 Series
A total of 34,500 units of ThinkPad series were shipped in the US and 2,900 in Canada, according to CSPC.

The batteries eligible for replacement have the following serial numbers: 42T4695, 42T4711, 42T4798, 42T4804, 42T4812, 42T4822, 42T4828, 42T4834, 42T4840 and 42T4890.

Lenovo said “Until a replacement battery arrives, you should turn off the system, remove the battery, and only power your ThinkPad by plugging in the AC adapter and power cord.”

China is said to have the maximum amount of shipped units with 117, 732 batteries having to be replaced.
