iPhone 6: Size Is The Trump Card

Should Apple do what many people think is impossible and release the iPhone 6 with a display of 5 inches or more, the iPhone would be the best upgrade ever.

Owners of the iPhone have large screen envy for many of the Android devices on the market that are in competition with Apple. Recently analyst Brian Marshall said that he thought a larger display on the iPhone would drive significant upgrades among those who own the iPhone. He also thought that some users of Android phones could be converted too.

At the moment the iPhone installed base tops 260 million users, equivalent to the last seven quarters of all sales of the Apple iPhone. He said that over half of sales of iPhones rely on those who are upgrading.

He thought that about 9% of those who have an iPhone will upgrade to the latest model in the average quarter. The number had declined due to the fact that the iPhone market is continually growing and it hit 11% in 2011 and 2012.

Marshall also said that if Apple launched two different versions of the iPhone, they would sell more handsets. Apple could announce an iPhone with a display of 4.7 inches and perhaps one with a 5.5 inch display.

He went on to say that they demand for an iPhone with a larger display had been pent up and new devices could see a $3 drive in the Apple share earnings.

He is not alone in thinking this way as many investors believe that Apple could offer an iPhone with a larger display this year. Andy Hargreaves from Pacific Crest believes that Apple may offer a handset with a 4.7 inch display and it could come in priced at about $299.

When Apple launched the iPhone 5S and 5C they both had a display of 4 inches. Should Apple boost the display of the Apple iPhone 6 it would only be the second time they had done so since they launched the original with the display of 3.5 inches.

There have been rumours that the Apple iPhone 6 could have a 6 inch display. Analysts from KGI Securities said that Apple wouldn’t offer a phone with a screen larger than 5 inches. Apple does like to make the iPhone easy to use with one hand.
