Finally, HTC has rolled out the Android 4.4.2 KitKat OS update to its devices. The update is currently being released to the Canadian telcos which includes Bell, Wind, Virgin, Rogers and SaksTel. Of course, this is only for the HTC One and the One Mini.
Meanwhile, the HTC One is also getting updated to the KitKat in the US. It is currently being rolled out by Sprint, AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon. The international edition of the HTC One also followed the US release.
Then there is the HTC One X. The KitKat is expected to the final update for this device and it will be released very soon.
The KitKat 4.4.2 will bring with it the Sense 5.5, cloud printing, Blinkfeed update, Bluetooth profiles and security enhancements. On top of that, carriers will be injecting their apps for the HTC One.
The disappointing part is that the KitKat failed to fix the coloured tint on the rear camera. It has been around since JelllyBean and the 4.4.2 OS was expected to be the remedy. As such, many hint that the issue is with the hardware, not the OS. Users experiencing the issue should refer to the nearest HTC service centre and get it checked.
On the other hand, users can adjust the camera’s saturation and contrast to reduce the tinting effect.
