HTC DROID DNA Android 4.4 KitKat Update Release Bells Go Off

The KitKat 4.4 update for the HTC DROID DNA on Verizon has had its own share of delays, of course the initial launch date was set for the end of March and this hasn’t been met either.

The attention of everyone has been on the HTC One M8, but today owners of the DROID DNA did get some good news from HTC. The product manager told owners through Twitter that the KitKat 4.4 update for the DROID DNA should get approval and be released during the second week of April.

In April of this year he said that the update would come out before the end of Q1, which should have been March. HTC missed this of course as we are now into April, however if you can believe the statement on Twitter then it should arrive within the next couple of weeks.

The DROID DNA on the update site of HTC has now moved from being in the development stages to certification, this means that they are preparing for a new update.

This is the target release date, but HTC does have the HTC One M8 and HTC One updates out of the way, so the road should be clear for them to focus on the DROID DNA.

If the target launch of the second week in April is stuck with then the KitKat 4.4 update could roll out around 14 April.

Owners of the DROID DNA are at the moment stuck with Jelly Bean 4.2 and they will skip directly to KitKat 4.4 along with the HTC Sense UI 5.5. This of course isn’t the Sense UI 6.0 which arrived last week on the HTC One M8. Owners should get this with a later update, but at least they will finally have KitKat 4.4.
